Helping San Diego Homeowners Prepare for a Super El Niño

With forecasters warning of an approaching "super" El Niño, Fox 5 San Diego turned to Resilient Roofing President Seth Larson for advice on getting homes ready before the storms arrive. Reporting from a Mira Mesa home where the family replaced their aging roof ahead of the rainy season, Seth cautioned that "very few people are prepared for what's coming" — the 2023–24 El Niño dropped more than 12 inches of rain on San Diego and caused millions of dollars in damage. His advice: "Better safe than sorry. Take care of your roof and your property before it becomes an emergency."

A Busy Two Weeks for Roofers Following Massive San Diego Storms

SAN DIEGO — The rainstorm that passed through the San Diego area left homeowners assessing damage to their properties. As a result, roofing companies were busier than usual, dealing with an influx of emergency calls. Resilient Roofing in Miramar saw a massive increase in demand for their services.

Their Miramar warehouse was practically empty as they worked to meet demand — all of their supplies, including tarps, put to use as they rushed to help homeowners patch and repair storm damage. Despite the increased workload, the team worked tirelessly to ensure customers' homes were properly repaired and protected.

"The Future Is Here" — 3D-Printed Homes Now in Mexico

Resilient Roofing donates a portion of each roofing project to help build homes in some of the world's poorest communities. The very first 3D-printed housing community is being built in Tabasco, Mexico, and a San Diego–based company is helping. "I always thought it was science fiction, but it's science fact. I mean, it's happening," said Seth Larson, owner of Resilient Roofing.
